What Can Nature Teach Us About Recycling?

Different grade levels at Black Mountain Elementary School investigated how recycling is an important part of nature. Students asked questions of nature and looked for answers in the local desert ecosystem as well as in classroom ecosystems they set-up and monitored. Our primary goals were:

  1. To investigate how worms help recycle waste.
  2. To investigate how termites are important to recycling in the desert ecosystem.
  3. To investigateand record in a naturalist journal evidence of recycling in the desert ecosystem.
  4. To investigate what humans can learn from nature about recycling.
